Ofer Yizhar received his Ph.D. from Tel Aviv University, working on the molecular mechanisms of synaptic transmission. He did his postdoctoral training at Stanford University and joined the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2011.

Yizhar’s laboratory studies the organization, function and dysfunction of the prefrontal cortex. Their goal is to understand how the complex circuits of this brain region operate and to gain a basic understanding of the mechanisms for its malfunction in disease states.
