Sara Caldas Martinez is a mentor in the 2024 SURFiN program. She is a Ph.D. student in Kate Hong’s lab at Carnegie Mellon University. Caldas Martinez holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and a master’s degree in neuroscience from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Her research focuses on investigating how tactile information is processed between cortical and subcortical brain areas during a discrimination process.
