Sachin Patel is the James Blakemore Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of California, Santa Barbara in biological psychology followed by medical and graduate training in pharmacology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He then completed clinical residency in adult psychiatry at Vanderbilt University.
Patel’s research program is currently focused on understanding synaptic and circuit-level mechanisms contributing to affective and developmental disorders. His laboratory utilizes a variety of genetic, pharmacological and electrophysiological approaches to understand disease mechanisms and to validate and interrogate novel treatment approaches for neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders.
