Assistant Professor, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center

SFARI Investigator Website

Ram Madabhushi is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Thomas. O. Hicks Scholar in Medical Research at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He obtained his Ph.D. in molecular biology from Weill Graduate School of Cornell University, where he studied how cytokinesis is coordinated with chromosome segregation in the bacterial model organism, E. coli. He subsequently conducted his postdoctoral research at the Picower Institute for Learning and Memory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studied mechanisms governing genomic stability and activity-dependent gene expression in neurons.

Madabhushi joined the faculty in the Department of Psychiatry in 2017. His lab’s main interests are to understand how chromosome organization and genome stability affect neuronal functions and to apply this knowledge to combat neurological disorders, including intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorders.
