Natasha Mendez-Albelo is a mentor in the 2024 SURFiN program. She is a graduate student in Xinyu Zhao’s lab at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Mendez-Albelo holds a bachelor’s degree in cell and molecular biology from Universidad Ana G. Mendez. Her research focuses on understanding the mechanisms underlying FXR1 regulation in human cortical excitatory neurons. Mendez-Albelo is the recipient of the Science and Medicine Graduate Research Scholars fellowship and Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Center fellowship.
