Franz Weber is an assistant professor of neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania. He received a Ph.D. in systems neuroscience at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology before studying the neural circuits controlling rapid eye movement (REM) sleep as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley.
The Weber lab combines systems neuroscience techniques and quantitative approaches to understand the mechanisms underlying the regulation of REM sleep and its defining features. A current focus of the lab is the functional role of REM sleep in memory processing and its dysfunction in neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism spectrum disorder.
