Alex Kwan, Ph.D.

Alex Kwan is an associate professor at the Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University. He received a B.AS. in engineering physics from Simon Fraser University and a Ph.D. in applied physics from Cornell University and did postdoctoral work at the University of California, Berkeley. He was previously assistant professor of psychiatry and neuroscience at Yale University before joining Cornell in 2022.

Research in the Kwan lab focuses on the role of the medial frontal cortex in decision-making and neuropsychiatric disorders. The laboratory’s expertise lies in developing and applying optical methods to record and control neural activity in behaving mice.
